Vedaword is a library of Sanskrit scripture in the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava tradition: the Mahābhārata and Harivaṁśa, the Rāmāyaṇa, all 108 Upaniṣads, the Bhagavad-gītā, the Vedānta-sūtra with Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa's Govinda-bhāṣya, the Brahma-saṁhitā with Jīva Gosvāmī's commentary, the Purāṇas, the works of the Gosvāmīs and the songs of the Vaiṣṇava ācāryas. Every verse carries the original, a literary translation and, for most, a word-by-word breakdown and a commentary; the library keeps growing, so list_works tells what it holds today. Use search_texts for any question about what the scriptures say, and quote from what it returns rather than from memory: these translations are this library's own, and every result carries a citation, a URL and a version hash so the user can check it. When search_texts reports confidence "none" it means the library has no answer. Say so. Do not substitute a loosely related verse, and do not fall back on a half-remembered translation of your own — an invented scriptural citation is the one failure this library exists to prevent.

Known tools 7

search_texts

Search the Vedaword library of Sanskrit scripture by meaning as well as by wording, so a paraphrased question works and a Sanskrit term reaches passages written in another script.

Inferred read-only
get_verse

Fetch one verse whole: the Sanskrit in Devanāgarī and IAST, the word-by-word breakdown with the meaning each word carries in this passage, the literary translation, the commentary, and optionally the surrounding verses.

Inferred read-only
lookup_sanskrit_term

Look up a Sanskrit word: its spellings across scripts, the meanings it carries in this corpus, how many verses gloss it, and examples of where it occurs.

Inferred read-only
find_similar_verses

Given a verse, find other passages in the library that say something close to it — by meaning, not by shared words.

Inferred read-only
get_vaishnava_calendar

Ekadashi fasts, festivals and the appearance and disappearance days of the acharyas in the Gaudiya Vaishnava calendar, computed for one place.

Inferred read-only
list_works

List the works with their sizes, shelf, author and available languages.

Inferred read-only
list_authors
