Tangent is a hand-picked catalogue of digital craft for designers and design engineers: sites, products, component libraries, tools and articles, the UI patterns they show, and the people behind them. Every tool is read-only. When to use which tool: - find_inspiration: you have a design brief ("onboarding for a fintech app, playful but clean") and want 5-10 references, each with why it fits. - search_resources: you know what you're looking for; narrow with vertical, category, technology, type, pricing or open_source. - browse_vertical: the newest entries in one section, no query needed. - get_resource: everything about one resource; related_resources: follow its tangents, each with a reason. - list_patterns, then get_pattern: study a UI pattern and its best examples. - search_people, list_people, get_person: designers and design engineers, their stack and their work. Lists page with limit and cursor: pass back next_cursor with the same arguments. Link a site with its item's url (tagged utm_source=tangent-mcp); site_url is the same address untagged; tangent_url is its Tangent page.
Known tools 10
find_inspirationTurns a design brief into a short list of references (default 8, at most 10), each with `why` it fits: the pattern, style, category, technology or platform it shares with the brief, or how search matched it (e.g.
Inferred read-onlysearch_resourcesRanked search over Tangent's catalogue of design and design-engineering resources (sites, products, component libraries, tools, articles).
Inferred read-onlybrowse_verticalThe newest resources in one section: inspiration, components, motion, build, visuals, tools or learn.
Inferred read-onlyget_resourceEverything Tangent knows about one resource: descriptions, taxonomy, editorial notes, the people behind it, and its related resources (tangents) with reasons.
Inferred read-onlylist_patternsEvery UI and interaction pattern resources are filed under (Command Menu, Onboarding, Empty State and more), with example counts.
Potential side effectsget_patternOne UI pattern: its definition, its best examples, related patterns and the technologies the examples use.
Inferred read-onlysearch_peopleFind designers and design engineers by name, role, focus or stack, ranked, with optional technology and role filters.
Inferred read-onlylist_peopleDesigners and design engineers in the catalogue, featured first, then by name, with optional technology and role filters and cursor paging.
Inferred read-onlyget_personOne person's profile: role, bio, website, social links, studios, what their site is built with (confirmed technologies) and their work on Tangent.
