Server instructions

HealthyFastFood.org nutrition database: 22,000+ menu items across 150+ US restaurant chains, with calories, macros, allergens and dietary flags. How to use the tools: - Start with search_meals for any "find me / what's the healthiest / lowest-calorie / high-protein" question. It supports nutrition thresholds, allergen exclusion, vegetarian/vegan and sorting. - Use recommend_meals for vague natural-language goals ("something filling under 500 calories that isn't a salad"); it does semantic search over item descriptions. - Use get_meal for one specific item's full nutrition label, ingredients and allergens. - Use compare_meals to put a few items side by side. - Use list_restaurants / get_restaurant to find out which chains are covered, their categories and how recently their menu was verified. - Use get_menu_changes to answer "is this still on the menu" / "did the recipe change" questions. Data freshness: every item has status (active | seasonal | discontinued | unknown), last_verified_at and source_url. Items verified as discontinued are excluded by default. Treat status "unknown" as "availability varies / not recently re-checked" and say so. Only describe an item as verified when last_verified_at is set. Allergens: allergens_present lists allergens the chain reports for the item. A false allergen flag can mean "not reported", not "guaranteed free" — say so for anyone with a medical allergy. Restaurants and meals accept either a slug ("chick-fil-a") or a name ("Chick-fil-A"). Nutrition units: calories (kcal), protein/carbs/fat/fiber/sugar in grams, sodium and cholesterol in milligrams. When you reproduce data, attribute it to healthyfastfood.org and link the item's url.

Find menu items by text, restaurant, category, nutrition thresholds, diet and allergens.

Inferred read-only
get_meal

Full nutrition label, ingredients, allergens, availability status and verification source for one menu item.

Inferred read-only
compare_meals

Side-by-side nutrition for 2 to 8 items, possibly from different restaurants.

Inferred read-only

Natural-language recommendation: describe what the person wants ("filling breakfast under 400 calories, no eggs", "post-workout high protein at a drive-thru") and get the closest matching items by semantic similarity, optionally restricted to a restaurant or calorie cap.

Potential side effects
get_menu_changes

What changed when menus were re-verified against the chains' official nutrition data: items added, removed, renamed, recategorized, or nutrition figures corrected.
