Craft Quantities is a construction materials and quantities service: how many bags of concrete, cubic yards or m³, how much drywall, plasterboard, paint, tile, brick, gravel, lumber or roofing a job takes; whole-job takeoffs for a slab, wall, deck, fence, roof or bathroom; a room or house planned or drawn; a builder's quote checked against the job; and building defects such as a crack, damp patch or leak. Every answer is computed by the site's own published, cited calculators, in metric and US customary, with the calculator's version, sources, a citation and a link to its page; each tool's text is a short Markdown report ending in one citation line. How the tools fit together: search finds a calculator, takeoff, worked example or diagnosis; get_calculator lists one calculator's inputs; calculate runs one calculator by its slug; get_sources gives its sources and citation. get_takeoff then run_takeoff work a whole job; get_planner then plan_room or plan_project plan spaces; estimate_house and create_drawing take a whole house or a drawn plan. diagnose_symptom covers defects, solve_backwards material already bought, market_documents which codes govern work in a market, translate_term trade words across markets, check_quote and import_quote quotes, create_supplier_quote_request a request for quote, create_my_project_file a My Project file. Every length, area or volume passed carries its unit ("12 ft", "3.5 m" or {"value": 12, "unit": "ft"}); an input left out takes the value the calculator's page opens on, and the answer lists every input used. The service gives quantities, not prices; it does not size structure or certify anything, does not state which edition of a code is in force, and does not say which cause of a defect is present.
Known tools 24
searchFinds Craft Quantities pages for a construction question in US, UK or Australian words — how much concrete, drywall, paint, tile, gravel or lumber; a takeoff for a deck, slab or roof; a worked example; a defect diagnosis such as a tripping breaker — and returns the matching pages: id, kind, title, link, description and slug.
Inferred read-onlyfetchReads one Craft Quantities page in full as plain text, by id: a construction calculator's inputs, units, opening values and sources; a takeoff's measurements and build-up choices; a worked example's steps; or a defect diagnosis's causes, checks and when to call a professional.
Inferred read-onlyget_calculatorDescribes ONE published construction calculator, chosen by its slug (concrete, drywall, paint, tile, roofing …): each input's id, label, the units it accepts, the value its page opens on in metric and US customary, its range and options, with the calculator's version, page and citation.
Inferred read-onlycalculateRuns ONE published Craft Quantities calculator, chosen by its slug, on the figures given: how many bags of concrete, sheets of drywall or plasterboard, tiles, bricks, studs, litres or gallons of paint, tonnes of gravel, cubic yards or m³ a job takes.
Inferred read-onlyconvert_unitsHow many cubic yards in 2 m³, square feet in 30 m², litres in 5 gallons, kPa in 50 psi?
Inferred read-onlyopen_in_site_linkReturns a link that opens a construction calculator's page on craftquantities.
Inferred read-onlyget_takeoffWhat does the takeoff for a concrete slab, framed wall, deck, bathroom, roof or fence ask for?
Inferred read-onlyrun_takeoffWhat materials does a whole job take: a concrete slab, a framed wall, a deck, a bathroom, a roof, a fence?
Inferred read-onlyrun_exampleRe-runs every pinned step of a worked construction estimate now, in both unit systems, and returns whether each still meets the published figure.
Inferred read-onlyget_plannerWhat does the room planner need for a room, bathroom, slab, deck, driveway, fence, loft, retaining wall, exterior wall or stair?
Inferred read-onlyplan_roomWhat materials does a room, bathroom, deck, patio slab, driveway, fence, loft, retaining wall or stair need?
Inferred read-onlyplan_projectMaterials for a renovation or extension of several rooms: up to 12 spaces (rooms, bathrooms, slabs, decks …) and a roof over them, planned together in one planner model, with each space's rows, every line together, labour hours and the plan.
Inferred read-onlycreate_drawingDraws a plan on the Construction Canvas — a room with doors and windows, a deck, patio, bed or path, a fence of legs and turns, a whole house from a few figures, drawing commands or a canvas document — and returns every material, plans, labour hours, a one-click link that opens it on the canvas, and a file.
Inferred read-onlyimport_quoteTurns a supplier's or builder's quote the reader has, prices and all, into a My Project file, as the site's Quote to Estimate does, and checks its own arithmetic.
Inferred read-onlydiagnose_symptomWhat causes a crack, damp patch, leak or ceiling stain, mould, a tripping breaker, banging pipes or a sticking door?
Inferred read-onlymarket_documentsWhich building code or standard covers wiring, stairs, gas, drainage, concrete or roofing in the US, Canada, the UK or Australia (or a country mapped to one), and who publishes it, with the site's standards pages.
Inferred read-onlytranslate_termWhat is plasterboard called in the US, skirting in Canada, render in Australia?
Inferred read-onlycreate_supplier_quote_requestCreates a request for quote from a materials list or bill of materials (the lines of a takeoff, house, plan or calculation, or the reader's own): Markdown to paste, a CSV, the site's link a merchant opens to price it, and a My Project file.
