CallOpen (callopen.art) — a curated catalogue of open calls for artists worldwide: artist residencies, grants and fellowships, prizes and competitions, exhibition calls, art & science and public-art calls. Subject matter: finding and judging opportunities for visual, performing, sound, film, design, craft and interdisciplinary artists; eligibility by citizenship, residence, age and career stage; entry fees, stipends, travel and production budgets, who pays (fully funded, partly funded, pay-to-stay); deadlines; what organisers ask applicants to send; AI-use policies; past winners and shortlists; how many applicants competed for how many places; the institutions that run these programmes. What is behind these tools: about 1,500 calls with upcoming deadlines, each read against the organiser's own page and kept with the organiser's exact words; about 3,300 organisations; about 1,200 recorded outcomes of past editions. A signed-in artist also has a profile (readable and editable), a tracker of saved calls with deadline reminders (save, update and remove many at once), and a fit check against their profile. Call Match: the artist's works against the brief of every open call, swiped in an app in the conversation. You are the reader and the judge — CallOpen calls no model for it: match_read_works gives you the works (pictures, texts) with the reading rules, match_save_reading stores what you saw, match_briefs gives the next call texts with the judging rules, match_save_reviews stores your verdicts (quotes are checked against the call's own words), and the app turns them into cards as you save. When the app posts «Run my Call Match (comparison …)» or the person sends a short request from the app («Check my works against the open calls»), the app has put the comparison and the task in your context: do that loop without asking, then open_call_match with that comparison_id so the selection opens under your answer. When the person asks for a match in the chat (with pictures or from the portfolio), do the same loop yourself first and open the app at the end — not before. When you open the app, write your answer first, then call match_wait_for_works and keep calling it while it says «waiting», with no text in between: on the works step the person lays the works and presses run; on the cards the buttons «check more», «check again» and «ask Claude» reach you through it — you do each in the same turn and wait again, so the person never sends a message for a button. Files attached to the chat — pictures, PDFs, documents, sounds, videos, ZIPs: if you can run code, match_upload_link gives one command for all of them that turns each into the works the site reads and puts them into the person's works from your sandbox — straight to callopen.art when the sandbox reaches it, otherwise (by default Free and Pro reach only package registries) as numbered parts you pass to match_upload_part, as many as it takes and over several replies if need be — so the cards show them; if code cannot run at all, read pictures yourself (match_save_reading without an id, by the rules match_read_works gives) and tell the person once that the cards show the picture after they add it with «Add the picture» in the Call Match window in this chat. Pictures of works attached to the chat are read the same way (match_save_reading without an id makes their comparison); open_call_match with that comparison_id shows them — without an id it opens the latest comparison, of other works. Windows in the conversation: CallOpen shows its things as its own windows, which people find easier than lists in text — calls as cards (show_open_calls), the tracker with its stages, calendar, board and application plans (open_tracker), one call's plan (open_application_plan), the profile with its facts, texts, CV and portfolio (open_my_profile), organisers (show_organizations) and results of past editions (show_call_results). After searching, reading the tracker or the profile, the window is the natural way to show the answer, with a few lines of your own under it. People edit right in the windows; what you change through the tools (update_saved_calls, update_my_profile, update_application_plan) shows in an open window by itself, so a window does not need opening again after a change. Each window tells you what is on its screen as context, so «this one» needs no retelling. The windows' «ask Claude» buttons reach you through wait_for_window when you wait for them after answering (the person then sends no message); otherwise they put a short request into the chat box. Application plans: for a call in the tracker, the plan is written by you — prepare_application gives the organiser's pages read again, the profile, the works and the rules; you write the plan in the language of the conversation and store it with save_application_plan; CallOpen checks every quote and shows it in the tracker. get_application_plan reads a plan and update_application_plan changes its texts, gaps, ticks and notes when the person asks in the chat. Access: searching and reading need no account; profile, tracker and application links belong to the signed-in person. Nothing is paid and no application is sent from here.

Known tools 82

show_open_calls

Show chosen open calls as CallOpen cards — cover, deadline, money, fee, fit to the signed-in profile — that the person can browse, save to their tracker and open on CallOpen.

Inferred read-only
call_images

The calls' covers and organisers' logos as data: URLs, for the cards.

Inferred read-only
open_call_match

Open CallOpen's Call Match in the conversation: the signed-in artist's works compared with the brief of every open call, dealt one card at a time — which work to send, what the call looks for in its own words, why the works answer it — to swipe right into the tracker, up for sure, left to pass.

Potential side effects
match_state

The app's start: access, the words in the host's language, the portfolio, earlier comparisons, decisions and the tracker.

Inferred read-only
match_deck

The selection of a comparison: the calls whose brief was checked against the works (by the person's assistant, or earlier on the site), the widened circles and how far the check went.

Inferred read-only
match_list

The selection as a list, one bucket a page at a time: can apply (with «fits — confirm a condition»), worth checking (filtered by reason), cannot apply (with the call's own words).

Inferred read-only
match_feedback

A note on one card of the list — fits, not my practice, I cannot apply, the block is wrong; it teaches the match.

Inferred read-only
match_apply_profile

Put what the works were read as (practices, themes) into the person's profile.

Inferred read-only
match_delete_work

Delete one of the person's stored works for good (the file and its picture).

Potential side effects
match_asks

The profile facts that decide the most open calls, and how many each decides — the «About you» step asks them first.

Inferred read-only
match_thumbs

Small pictures of the person's stored works (made from the private copies on the server).

Inferred read-only
match_save_call

Put one call of the list into the tracker with what its card said, as the heart on a match card does — no decision in the selection is recorded.

Inferred read-only
match_add_work

Add one of the artist's works for a comparison — a picture or a text — kept unsaved for the comparison unless saved to the portfolio.

Inferred read-only
match_keep_work

Save a work to the portfolio, or give it the author's name and facts.

Inferred read-only
match_prepare

Prepare a comparison of the chosen works for the person's assistant to read and cross-check.

Inferred read-only
match_ask_claude

Hand a button press to the person's assistant when it is waiting in its turn (match_wait_for_works): check more calls, check again, or help with one call.

Inferred read-only
match_attach_work

Put the picture of a work behind a work the assistant read straight from the chat (no picture kept), so the cards and the works window show it.

Inferred read-only
match_progress

How far the assistant got with a comparison: read or not, how many calls judged and how many make cards.

Inferred read-only
match_swipe

One decision in the selection: want and sure put the call into the tracker with what the card said, pass records why.

Inferred read-only
match_undo

Take the last decision back, tracker included.

Inferred read-only
match_save_facts

Save the answers the match asks for to the profile (where the artist lives, citizenship, year of birth, how they apply, AI use, languages).

Inferred read-only
match_call

A call in full for the selection's call window: what it offers, who can apply, what to submit, dates, money, the organiser's own words, past results and where to apply.

Inferred read-only
match_track

A step of the person in the selection, written to their activity like the site's (doc 67 registry, marked as from Claude).

Inferred read-only
match_join_waitlist

Join the Call Match waitlist.

Inferred read-only
open_tracker

Open the signed-in artist's CallOpen tracker in the conversation as a window: every saved call by stage, with deadlines and the days chosen to apply, the application kit, the results to answer, and the application plans with their next steps — as cards, a list, a calendar, a board or plans.

Inferred read-only
open_application_plan

Open the application plan of one call in the tracker as a window: its cover and verdict, the days to the deadline, the one step to do now, the blocks (steps, texts within the organiser's limits, works, files, budget, form answers, risks, a letter), the organiser's rules with their quotes, notes.

Inferred read-only
tracker_state

The tracker window's start: every saved call with its stage, note, day, kit and the match's plan, the stats, the application plans, and the words in the host's language.

Inferred read-only
tracker_stamp

A short mark of the tracker and plans that changes with any change.

Inferred read-only
tracker_update

Change one tracker row as the site does: its stage («Planned» only with a plan), note, day to apply or to hear the results, priority.

Inferred read-only
tracker_remove

Remove one call from the tracker (its stage, note and plan go too).

Potential side effects
tracker_kit

The application kit of one tracked call — what the organiser asks for, with what the person already has — and its day; ticking an item may move the call to «Preparing».

Inferred read-only
tracker_contexts

Every tracked call with its row, stage, day and what its card said (the match's plan) — for the selection to offer a stronger work for calls already tracked and to mark a call sent.

Inferred read-only
tracker_pending

Matches in the tracker still without a day to apply (asked about before new cards in Call Match).

Inferred read-only
tracker_take_plan

Replace «what to send» of a call already in the tracker with what a newer comparison found; the old one stays in the call's history.

Potential side effects
plan_state

One application plan whole, or what it would be built from, with small pictures of its works.

Inferred read-only
plan_update

Save the person's side of a plan: steps ticked, edited texts, gaps filled (also into an empty profile field), notes, or the previous version back.

Inferred read-only
plan_recheck

Read the organiser's pages again (no model) and say whether they changed since the plan was written.

Inferred read-only
plan_remove

Delete a plan (the call stays in the tracker, back in «Saved»).

Potential side effects
app_track

A step of the person in a CallOpen window, written to their activity like the site's (doc 67 registry, marked as from Claude).

Inferred read-only
window_ask_claude

Hand a button press in a CallOpen window to the person's assistant when it waits in its turn (wait_for_window): prepare an application plan, improve a draft, write a profile text, talk a call, an organiser or results over.

Potential side effects
open_my_profile

Open the signed-in artist's CallOpen profile in the conversation as a window: practices and disciplines, the facts the fit check reads and what contradicts itself in them, where to look and for what, the bio, statement and goals, the CV, the portfolio of works with how each was read, the letters.

Inferred read-only
profile_state

The profile window's start: the profile, the facts the fit check reads and their warnings, the countries, the practices and disciplines, the portfolio with small pictures, the daily allowance and the words in the host's language.

Inferred read-only
profile_stamp

A short mark of the profile and the works that changes with any change.

Inferred read-only
profile_save

Save what the person changed in the profile window, through the profile page's own route and the facts route of the fit check.

Inferred read-only
profile_avatar

Set the profile picture as the profile page does.

Inferred read-only
profile_work

One work of the portfolio: the large picture, the author's name, year, status and words, every comparison that read it with the reading; with name/facts/keep — save them first.

Inferred read-only
show_organizations

Show organisers of open calls as CallOpen cards — logo, country, how many calls are open, when their deadlines fall, how much is free or paid — that open into the organiser's whole page with their open calls to save, past results and similar organisers.

Inferred read-only
show_call_results

Show the results of past editions of calls as CallOpen cards — who was selected by stage, how many applied for how many places, when the results came — that open into the whole edition with its jury and the next edition.

Inferred read-only
explore_cards

The cards the window shows and the words in the host's language.

Inferred read-only
org_page

One organiser whole for the window: about, open calls (as call cards, saved or not), deadline months, kinds of call, practices, whom they open to, past calls, results of past editions, similar organisers.

Inferred read-only
result_page

One edition with its results for the window: stages with the people as the organiser published them, the numbers, the jury, the next and past editions.

Inferred read-only
search_open_calls

Search CallOpen's curated catalogue of open calls for artists — residencies, grants, prizes, fellowships, exhibition calls — with the site's own filters and ranking.

Inferred read-only
get_open_call

Read one open call in full: what it offers, who can apply, what to submit, dates, fees, the organiser's own words, past results and — for signed-in users — where to apply.

Inferred read-only
search_organizations

Find organisers of open calls — foundations, residencies, councils, museums — with their open calls, deadlines and badges.

Inferred read-only
get_organization

Read an organiser's page: who they are, their open and past calls, how often and for which practices they call, whom their calls are open to, and similar organisers.

Inferred read-only
search_results

Search published outcomes of past open calls: who was selected, how many applied for how many places, when results came out.

Inferred read-only
get_call_results

Read who was selected in one edition of a call, by stage, with the numbers (applied, selected, ratio) where the organiser published them.

Inferred read-only
list_vocabulary

List the values CallOpen's filters understand — practices and disciplines with how many open calls each has, kinds of call, funding models, career stages, tracker statuses.

Inferred read-only
get_my_profile

Read the signed-in artist's CallOpen profile: practices, disciplines, where they live, citizenship, career stage, languages, interests, statement and CV sections, the facts the fit check uses and anything in them that looks inconsistent.

Inferred read-only
update_my_profile

Change the signed-in artist's CallOpen profile — where they live, citizenship, languages, biography, statement, practices, career stage, interests — exactly as the profile page does.

Inferred read-only
list_my_saved_calls

List the calls the signed-in artist saved to their CallOpen tracker — status, deadline, notes, and on request each call's fit to the profile — nearest deadline first, with counts by status.

Inferred read-only
save_calls

Save one or more calls to the signed-in artist's CallOpen tracker, with a status and an optional private note; deadline reminders then come by email as on the site.

Potential side effects
update_saved_calls

Change the status, note or reminder date of calls in the signed-in artist's tracker — many at once: mark them applied or in preparation, or set aside the ones not worth applying to ("skipped").

Inferred read-only
remove_saved_calls

Remove calls from the signed-in artist's CallOpen tracker, with their notes, statuses and reminders.

Potential side effects
get_application_link

Give the organiser's own application page (and info page or contact) of a call — the link CallOpen shows to signed-in users.

Inferred read-only
prepare_application

Read everything an application plan for one tracked call is built from: the organiser's own pages and linked PDFs read again now, the call card, the artist's profile and saved texts, the works the match chose (or the whole portfolio), the kit, the base rules and the JSON form of the plan.

Inferred read-only
save_application_plan

Store an application plan for a tracked call: CallOpen checks every quote against the organiser's pages it read, keeps days between today and the deadline, and shows the plan in the artist's tracker, where they tick steps and edit the drafts.

Potential side effects
check_fit

Check calls against the signed-in artist's profile with CallOpen's own fit rules: hard blockers (country, age, applicant type, language, AI policy, deadline, excluded media) with the organiser's words, cautions, reasons for fit, a 0–100 score, who can apply in the organiser's terms, and what the call asks for that the profile does not show.

Inferred read-only
get_my_match_history

List the signed-in artist's past Call Match comparisons on CallOpen (their works read against call briefs): when, which works, the practices found and how many calls were judged and kept.

Inferred read-only
match_insights

Read a Call Match comparison for a conversation: what the person's decisions say about their taste, which of their works the briefs ask for most, strong calls still undecided with what each looks for, wanted calls closing soon, materials the wanted calls ask for that the profile lacks, conditions to confirm, and how many calls could still be compared (deeper) or shown by widening the search (wider).

Inferred read-only
match_wait_for_works

Wait (up to 45 seconds a call) for the person in the Call Match app you opened: for the works they lay and run, and, once the cards are open, for the buttons that ask you for something — check more calls, check again after the facts changed, help with one call.

Inferred read-only
match_upload_link

Give one shell command for your code sandbox that puts the files the person attached to this chat (/mnt/user-data/uploads) — pictures, PDFs, documents, sounds, videos, ZIPs, of any size — into their CallOpen works, kept unsaved for a week as a comparison's files on the site: each file becomes the works the site makes of it (a picture; a PDF's picture pages and its text; a document's text and pictures; a 30-second excerpt of a sound; six frames of a video), the original never leaves the sandbox, and each work answers with a work_id for match_read_works.

Potential side effects
match_upload_part

Pass a work made from a file attached to this chat into the person's CallOpen works through the connector itself, as the numbered base64 parts the match_upload_link command printed when the sandbox could not reach callopen.art: each part is checked by its CRC and kept, the ones to copy again are named, the parts already passed wait a week so a long file can take several calls and replies, and when all have come the work is checked whole and kept (work_id for match_read_works).

Potential side effects
match_read_works

Give the signed-in artist's works for CallOpen's Call Match — each as a picture or text, labelled W1…Wn, with their titles, facts and words — together with CallOpen's reading rules and schema.

Inferred read-only
match_save_reading

Save your reading of the works to the comparison, through CallOpen's own checks (practices only from the vocabulary, every work by its label).

Inferred read-only
match_briefs

Give the next calls of a comparison to judge against the works — their full texts and the organisers' briefs, the works as read, and CallOpen's judging rules (verdict and fit, the call's own words, which works to send, how, the risk).

Potential side effects
match_save_reviews

Save your judgements of calls against the works, through CallOpen's own checks; they become the cards the person swipes.

Inferred read-only
get_application_plan

Read the application plan of a tracked call as it stands: verdict, the steps with their days and which are done, every text with its limit, its open gaps and the person's own edits, the organiser's rules with their quotes, notes.

Inferred read-only
check_application_item

Verify one item of an application plan with what the person told you or gave you: the item counts as done only when its check passes, and the reasons come back when it does not.

Inferred read-only
final_check_application

Run the final check of an application plan: the organiser's pages read again (did the rules change?), every item's check again (texts, the kit, the works, links now) and the deadline.

Inferred read-only
update_application_plan

Change the person's side of a tracked call's application plan — tick steps, put in a rewritten text, fill the gaps with what the person said, replace the notes — as the plan page does; the first tick moves the call to «Preparing».

Inferred read-only
wait_for_window

Wait (up to 45 seconds a call) for a button the person presses in a CallOpen window you opened — the tracker, an application plan, the profile, organisers, results or Call Match — that asks you for something: prepare a plan, improve a text, write a statement, talk a call over.
